IVY Youth Leadership

Pubah

  • Coordinates the overall activities of the group and the work of the Gurus.
  • Runs the weekly meetings
  • When necessary, gently reminds the group and individual members of their duties to the group and its principles of participation and behavior.
  • Works closely with the Adult Facilitators to formulate the group activities and Sunday morning programs.

Secretary Guru

  • Keeps a record of major group decisions, projects, organizational structures.
  • Coordinates the writing and mailing of thank-you notes to the people who visit and the groups we visit.
  • Scribes during class and keeps track of information generated at meetings.

Treasurer Guru

  • Keeps track of the finances of the group.
  • Communicates with the Adult Facilitators on financial matters.
  • Handles the group’s contributions to the faith communities we visit.
  • Coordinates and keeps records of the group’s special events.

Communications Guru

  • Keeps and maintains the group phone lists (youth and parent lists).
  • Keeps and maintains the phone tree.
  • Coordinates calling to outside groups.
  • Initiates all phone-tree contacts.

Food Guru

  • Oversees the all-important task of making sure that we have adequate food for meetings, etc.
  • Coordinates with the adult food provider.

Social Justice Guru

  • Oversees the social justice programs of IVY.
  • Organizes our participation in social justice projects.
  • Outreach to do social justice with other youth from other faiths.

Social Events Guru

  • Coordinates the planning and execution of group social events.
  • Works with the other gurus and Adult Facilitators to organize communications, logistics, travel, financing etc. of social events.
  • Brings ideas for social events to the group and keeps track of the group’s suggestions for events.

Visits and Visitors Guru

  • The youth contact with the groups we visit.
  • In partnership with the Adult Facilitators represents the group to the leadership of the groups we visit.
  • Arranges the times and places of visits.
  • Works with the Telephone Guru and Adult facilitators to arrange carpooling to visits.
  • Provides information to the Secretary Guru about thank-you notes to groups we visit.

Historian Guru

  • Keeps a record in photographs and documents of our visits and major activities.
  • Keeps a brief written outline of visits and events.
  • Assigns “event recorder” roles to other group members where needed.
  • Emails photos to web page guru.

Website Guru

  • Works with web page coordinator to keep an updated page of IVY activities and happenings.
  • Content includes our mission, purpose, and descriptive statement, our calendar, pictures of events, and contact information for outside groups to reach us.

Birthday Guru

  • Creates a calendar of birthdays of IVY members.
  • Coordinates a monthly birthday “celebration” for all members who have a birthday in that month. Will need to pay attention to our visit schedule when planning these short celebrations.

Fund Raising Guru

  • In charge of fund raising ideas that must be passed through all the IVY adult leadership for approval.
  • Implementation and delegation of fund raisers.
  • Important job that will make social activities possible in IVY!!

Guardian Angels

  • Every new member or visiting youth will be assigned a “guardian angel” who will be responsible for making them welcome in the group and for helping them understand what the group does and what its principles are.
  • The guardian angels will be responsible for introducing their person to others in the group, for seeing that that person is not left out of activities, conversations, etc., for seeking help from the group or Adult Facilitators in the work of integrating their person into the group.
